Enveloping potency and magnetic elegance: when Figuière makes Provence shine in red.
Syrah, Mourvèdre

5 years
Blend of two of our three terroirs: La Londe,
on micaceous schist, and Barbeiranne, on
hard, smoky-gray clay-limestone.
A dry winter. A wet, cold Spring. A spell of
frost in April. But a hot, dry Summer, with
major wildfires on the Maures plain and
even a few hail storms in August… a far
from relaxing year!
Atypical harvests, with the grape varieties
often in a different order of ripeness. A
stressful year for nature!
The harvest takes place when the tannins
in the grapes reach optimum maturity. The
Syrah ripens first and is harvested slightly
over ripe as we wait for the Mourvèdre to be
ready.
After destemming, each variety is macerated
separately for about 30 days, then fermented
for 20 days in stainless steel vats. Pneumatic
pressing is followed by selection and
blending. Between 6-8 months, in 300 liter
medium toast oak casks from Tronçais and
the Vosges.
It is then racked and bottled at the beginning
of Summer.
Intense ruby color with slight copper highlights
Expressive floral and sweet spice notes. Violet, pepper and vanilla mingle with jammy fruit aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant and prune. Scents of underbrush and earth complete this wine’s expressive bouquet.
Powerful on the palate, with a fine balance between mineral freshness, licorice and rich, generous roundness. Fine, present tannins give the wine a silky feel. The long finish develops thirst-quenching menthol notes, enveloped by the delicious aromas of black fruits and vanilla, to the delight of our taste buds.
A thick, supple silk
An interlude for two, far from the daily grind. On the plate, simplicity, precision and generosity harmonize.
With meats, grilled or simmered: duck breast with Sichuan pepper and salted soy sauce. Or with a chocolate dessert, such as a Black Forest cake.
