At the Domaine, we indulge our biodiversity. Taking care of the vines, and thus the health of our teams, has been part of our nature for over 30 years.
Preserving water in our vineyards
The vineyards around La Londe are 75% irrigated, taking advantage of the water supply from the Canal de Provence. Barbeiranne has its own water source. Clos Fanny has no source of water other than what nature provides! The Var has been experiencing drought alerts for several years. We remain vigilant in conserving this precious resource.
A 100% organic vineyard… coming soon
Our entire vineyard will be 100% organic by the time the 2025 vintage is released. At present, all our vineyards in La Londe les Maures and Pignans are Ecocert-certified. Clos Fanny in Collobrières is undergoing the three years of conversion required for organic certification.
Action for flora and fauna
Our vines are teeming with life. Gentle pruning, composting, organic fertilizers, hedges and much more, each of our actions aims to limit soil erosion while strengthening the micro-organisms already present in our soils.
This attention is also visible and audible around our Provencal vineyards. We’ve installed nesting boxes to welcome bats and chickadees, which prey on vineyard pests.
The grape harvest, the achievement!
Figuière still employs around thirty grape-pickers to harvest the Clos Fanny goblet vines and the vines between Pierrefeu and La Londe, the furthest from the winemaking cellars based in La Londe. Everything else is machine-harvested, preferably at night, to preserve the freshness of the bunches and the health of our teams.
Harvesting begins in mid-August and ends in mid-September.
